Winter in Pink Challenge: Second Week (and a Half!)
If you haven't yet entered my Winter in Pink challenge, you have a little extra time. I'm switching my challenge start day to Fridays, so the Winter in Pink theme continues until January 8!

I hope to see yours soon! On January 8 (next Thursday) I'll do a drawing to choose the winner who will receive $15 shopping credit at Lunagirl.com ~ your chance to get some new digital ephemera for the new year.
The Lunagirl Moonbeams Design Team has some inspiration for you:

What We Wish Santa Would Bring....
One last inspiration for the St. Nick challenge, from Michele Storms. This has always been a favorite Santa image of mine. It is originally from a vintage holiday card with a sentiment in Dutch. I love how Michele has enhanced the natural feel of the image with her background and crocheted lace. And the color palette is just perfect. As we head into the last few days before Christmas, we wish you peace and joy and all the blessings the season can bring!
"The Best Present" by Michele Storms of ArtFromtheWell.blogspot.com: "i love this vintage st nick image from lunagirl looking out over the world where he will soon deliver gifts. the scene was so peaceful that i added a stamped "peace on earth" sentiment from one of my creatiate stamps. as i was seeking embellishments for my piece i found the red bow and could not resist adding it below the stamped sentiment. because to my thinking the best present of all would be peace on earth." |

Peace on Earth
Just wanted to share this pretty tag created by Michele Storms of my Design Team and Art From the Well.
Beautiful colors of soft green and pink and blue, a Lunagirl image from Blue Noel, sweet embellishments of lace and ribbon, a gorgeous flower, and my favorite sentiment for Christmastime: Peace.
Thanks for sharing, Michele. It's so wonderful!

Celebrate St. Nick Challenge: Second Week
MICHELE STORMS: Blessed St. Nick |
The gallery of entries and Design Team samples so far features the jolly old fellow in many guises, in non-traditional colors as well as red and white, in many types of costumes and transportation. Here DT member Michele Storms shared a card featuring a particularly lovely old image of Santa Claus -- as kindly Saint Nicholas, the patron and protector of children. The peace dove and hearts (and that fab red and white rickrack!) complete the image perfectly.
Come see more celebrations of
St. Nick, and join us!

St Nick Takes to the Skies!
In this card by Michele Storms, Saint Nicholas takes to the skies in the basket of an old-timey zeppelin! I told you he shows up in every way possible on these vintage Christmas cards. Michele's card is a cheery reminder to enter our challenge (and win some store credit at Lunagirl)!
Michele writes: i've got another delightful vintage image of st nick from lunagirl. i used some fun candy designer paper from my stash and added ribbon, a gift and a stocking die cut and a punched flower. |

Creative Challenge: CELEBRATE SAINT NICK
It's time for a new challenge, and since it's well into December let's celebrate good Old Saint Nick, shall we? I absolutely adore vintage Santa Claus pictures, and there are so many to enjoy! We have over 300 in our collection (all available on my Victorian Holidays Volume One CD, btw) and the variety is fascinating.
There are Santas in red, green, blue, white, purple, even pink. Santas in fur, in bishop's robes, in monk's robes, in fancy red suits. Santa Claus on foot, in his sleigh (of course), on horseback, in antique automobiles, hot air balloons, boats, airplanes, trains... what have I forgotten?
We can call him Santa or Saint Nicholas, Pere Noel, Father Christmas... We have plenty of pictures of St. Nick with Victorian children, and also with angels and animals. Some are funny and silly, some are dignified and elegant, some are primitive, some are quite fancy... all are just wonderful to explore and to include in card-making, scrapbooking, ornaments, and other crafts this time of year.
So, I'm hoping to see St. Nick in every style and guise and color and costume! Need a few pictures of St Nick quick? Check out the CD above or download 110 vintage Santa pics instantly.
Here are the guidelines for this challenge:
Any craft or medium is OK.
Limit of 3 entries from one person in each challenge, please.
Vintage style is encouraged.
Use a Lunagirl image or element and your entry will count twice in the drawing!
Remember to link to this blog and to Lunagirl.com on your site if you have one.
Prize: Winner will be selected randomly to receive a $15 credit at Lunagirl.com!
Challenge ends at noon CST on December 21.
I love it when you use Lunagirl images, and I hope you'll go take a look at my collections... but that's not a requirement! But do remember that if you use a Lunagirl image, you will be entered TWICE in the drawing! I welcome everyone and every style but also want to give a little something extra to my wonderful customers! Most important is have fun, get creative, enjoy vintage.

by MANDY CHILVERS of Tag Along Another favorite image of old Saint Nick! A fabulous Victorian die cut in a white fur coat and hat, carrying a Christmas tree! Mandy has used the die cut beautifully here, with such a lovely snowy-looking background, just the right touch of glitter, and even some "snowballs" at the bottom! |
by VICKI ROMAINE of The Cheerful Stamppad who writes: Today I used the Lunagirl "Freebie" for my card. I just love this digital. The card has a tan base and on top a rustic vintage print designer paper. I used a couple of leftover strips from previous cutting of card to fill in the front. Down the side on top of the strip of cardstock are three small glittery reindeer. |

Glad Tidings of Comfort and Joy
Are you feeling festive yet?
Eighteen days until the 25th!
This little girl angel on a tag created by DT member Mandy Chilvers reminds you that it's not the shopping and spending that matters... it's the JOY.
Just a random observation, but don't you love this angel's little red maryjane shoes?
Thank you Mandy for one more little holiday child, and such a pretty tag. I love the poinsettias and especially the little snowflakes.
Everyone remember that we are celebrating Santa in the new challenge that starts tomorrow morning!

Holiday Children Challenge....There's Still Time!
by VICKI ROMAINE |
The challenge is open until noon CST tomorrow, so you still have time to link up your creation for a chance to win and a chance to share your work!
Here is one more piece from Vicki Romaine of the Design Team, to inspire you. And what could be more lovely than this beautiful, nostalgic image of a little girl and her puppy looking in with amazement at the Christmas tree. Do you think it's Christmas morning, and she is looking at all the presents under the tree, or is it Christmas eve and she is just gazing with wonder at the beautiful tree lit with candles? I prefer to think the latter... the Night BEFORE Christmas is my favorite holiday.
Vicki has placed the image and sentiment, from my Christmas Joy tags collage sheet, on a pretty vintage style background and added the perfect touch of lace and "wish" embellishment. If you can't quite read the sentiment, it says "May you always see Christmas through the eyes of child." My wish for you tonight! We got our tree today and hung wreaths on the doors, so I guess the season is underway at our house.

"Celestial" Tags by Michele
I wanted to share these two beautiful tags created by Michele Storms and featured on her blog artfromthewell.blogspot.com. Gorgeous and so magical! They both use images from Lunagirl "Celestial" digital collage sheet. The one on the right (that fabulous flapper dancer looks like she is opening a curtain to space, such an incredible tag!) also uses images from my collage sheets "Music" and "Bring On the Dancing Girls." Michele is a member of my Design Team -- so proud of my DT and their amazing work!

Announcing Morning Moon Shop: Vintage Aprons & Bags Big and Small
A few of you may remember when I shared a picture of my new/old sewing machine, and joked that I enjoyed using it so much that I might open a shop to sell my handmade items? And I was mostly joking... weeelllllll, so now this is happening...
MorningMoonShop.etsy.com
So far I've listed several reversible vintage style aprons and some in retro 1940s 1950s style, all in pretty fabrics that I enjoy. This all started when I wanted vintage aprons in batiks and other fabrics I couldn't find, so well, guess it's my new hobby! Soon I plan to list bags as well, little magic bags and book bags and totes and more... and kitchen needfuls, etc. *Sigh* !

Blog Challenge Theme: Holiday Children
It's that time of year again -- time for gratitude and joy, food and family, tradition and celebration, thankfulness and hope. Autumn leaves, holly berries and mistletoe, turkey and pumpkin pie (and pecan pies at my house!) and then later cookies and candies, gingerbread and peppermint, the smell of cinnamon and evergreens... yes, I love this time of year!
For many people, one of the best things about Thanksgiving, Christmas and Hanukkah are our memories of childhood celebrations and the fun of seeing our own children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews, enjoy the magic of this season. It's wonderful to see the holiday season through the eyes of a child. So let's have fun creating with images of Holiday Children.
There are so many wonderful vintage images of girls and boys. We have hundreds in our collection of Victorian and Edwardian era holiday postcards -- for Christmas and New Years on Victorian Holidays One and for Thanksgiving (and Halloween too!) on Victorian Holidays Volume Three. I've used a few on some charming digital collage sheets for holidays. The Lunagirl Moonbeams Design Team feature some of them below.

Tutorial to Share: Making an Altoid's Tin Book
I collect craft tutorials on my pinterest page and like to share them here from time to time. Here is a particularly nice one by Laura Carson on her Gingersnap Creations blog. Laura has created a wonderfully detailed explanation for making a charming altered book with an altoid tin. If you're like me (and my husband) you always a supply of those great little tins lying around! They're too cute and useful to through away, but you need a creative way to alter them.
Laura's supply list includes ephemera and vintage images ... you know where to find those! (brazen hint: Lunagirl.com) This project could easily be adapted to other altered tin ideas... a box or any kind of container rather than a book, a tiny shrine, etc. Here's the link to the original tutorial:
