New Digital Collage Sheets

Some new digital collage sheets today! One called Garden Girls, which features images of little girls adapted from Victorian postcards, all posing with flowers. The top row represents the four seasons... Spring Summer Autumn Winter! Below that I've included some more "flower girls."

Just wanted to share this pretty tag created by Michele Storms of my Design Team and Art From the Well.

Beautiful colors of soft green and pink and blue, a Lunagirl image from Blue Noel, sweet embellishments of lace and ribbon, a gorgeous flower, and my favorite sentiment for Christmastime: Peace.

Starry Night Noel and Merry Blue Santa :-)

Here is a beautiful silvery and blue Noel tag by Moonbeam Vicki Romaine, who writes: "Very subtle tag.  Lunagirl's image of Mary and baby Jesus. (altered)"

The Madonna and Child image is an image from an antique French postcard that I tinted and altered for my Blue Noel collage sheet.  Vicki has put it on a blue tag background with silver stars and lacy silver ribbon.

 And here from Michele Storms is another take on Blue Christmas -- a jolly Father Christmas in blue, bringing a festive Christmas tree and plenty of toys, on a very merry background, embellished with a happy daisy.

The Lunagirl image was placed on  embossed cardstock.  A elegant sheer, silver ribbon and bow complete the card.

A very simple one but I like the way it turned out being a little crackly: I printed the lovely blue angel on tissue paper and then covered the front of the candle with the image.

Lunagirl Blog Challenge: Blue Christmas

I'm happy to announce the next Lunagirl Moonbeams blog challenge theme: Blue Christmas.

In my Victorian vintage Santa collection, Santa doesn't wear only red -- many of the antique pictures show him in green, brown, purple, and yes sometimes blue!  And of course there are blue angels, and children in blue, beautiful blue-themed Nativities (Mary traditionally wears a blue cloak), and even Christmas cards with blue flowers.  I hope you have fun with the Blue Christmas theme (next year I want to do Shabby Pink Christmas!)

Petra Berendsen used four images from the Blue Christmas collage sheet to create this adorable banner.  I love this, don't you?  Petra writes: "I enjoyed my self by creating a little Christmas banner using images from the Blue Christmas Collage Sheet. I die-cut banner pages from patterned paper and added scalloped musical note circles and your images to the page. To focus on the images I kept the embellishments quite minimal with buttons, a little bow and some die-cut and glittered holly leaves."

Michele Storms created this beautiful, serene card, with a verse from the Christmas story in the Book of Luke.  She used an antique angel/Mary painting that I enhanced in blue on my Blue Noel collage sheet , and I see a Lunagirl freebie background!  Since I was a little girl I have loved images of Mother Mary, and I love what Michele did with this one.

Here is old Saint Nick himself in blue!  Mandy Chilvers used shades of gold and blue on this very pretty Noel card.  Love the gold stars and the holly wreath "O" in Noel.

 And here Vicki Romaine has used the same Santa in Blue image for a different look, all in shades of blue:
"As a change, I created a 6 x 6 card.  I made the background of this card using acrylic paints and added some Stickles to make it sparkle in various places.  The background was so busy I just added the sentiment along with the Lunagirl image."

"i was thinking that the alice in wonderland story includes secrets and hidden things so i turned to one of the alice collage sheets from lunagirl.  i colored the image of alice pulling aside the curtain with promarkers and cut it out. but i wanted her to find something a little more surprising than the queen's garden. so while the mysteriously smiling cheshire cat looks on, here is what happened in my alice scene.... what is rudolph the red-nosed reindeer doing behind that curtain? i guess he is telling me i'd better get going on making some christmas cards."

Lady Blue with Flowers by Petra

Here is another image that brings to mind the word Reverie -- a pretty blue flapper lady who looks like she has something on her mind, a faraway look in her eyes.  Petra has created a beautiful card with this Lady Blue.

"I've made a postcard using the Blue Belles collage sheet. I cut the image out of the background and then re-coloured the blue dress with watercolours to make the blue more blue.  I've also used the flower from the vintage butterfly collage sheet. 

The background is made from scratch using inks, sprays, paints, masks and rubberstamps. 

I've used a quote on it from the novel 'the raven boys' by Maggie Stiefvater."

Blue Backgrounds for a Blue Lady

The entries for the Lady Blue challenge are so pretty! I love looking at the entries together , all the blue ladies and shades of blue.  I'm liking this theme alot so far!

A few weeks ago I shared a shabby blue / turquoise background I had created by altering and recoloring some old shabby Victorian wallpaper.  I thought I would share it again for your "blue" projects.  I'm sharing it here in turquoise and also in a deeper blue.

Lunagirl Blog Challenge: LADY BLUE

The theme for my new Lunagirl blog challenge starting today is LADY BLUE.

In choosing this theme I was originally inspired by the Bluet blue-tinted postcards that were popular in the early 1920s.  I have quite a few in my collection, and sometimes tint other photo postcards to resemble them!

So that is one style of Lady Blue -- vintage blue-tinted postcards.  But "Lady Blue" could also be a lady dressed in blue, or a lady in a blue mood. You'll see that I have collage sheets that suit either of those interpretations...Then there are blue fairies, and blue angels, and blue birds, and ladies who sing the blues...   Wander wherever your imagination takes you inspired by the theme!

The Design Team will be sharing their visions of Lady Blue to get your creative juices flowing (see some of them below).

"Since Lunagirl is sponsoring the Tag challenge on my blog.  I have created a tag with the theme "Lady Blue"  I took two images from one of the collage sheets and used one of her blue backgrounds.  I made part of the background a little darker by doing a repeat printing of  a strip of the background.    I think the diecut is from Memory Box.  It is one a friend gave me to show what she had ordered recently."

New Collage Sheets ~ Patterned Backgrounds in Pretty Color Themes

 I've been busily creating new collage sheets the past few weeks, but haven't gotten them all posted to the blog.

Here are a couple of sheets featuring patterned backgrounds in a size perfect for ATCs and cards, or tags, or frames for pictures in scrapbooks.

I've also been scanning antique Tarot cards, in bright colors and also in sepia, so if you like those I'll have them posted soon. 

The other thing I've been working on, by request, is more mid-century images ~ 1940s, 1950s, 1960s, retro housewives, etc. ... so stay tuned for that on the blog next week, or go ahead and see my new stuff on the website! 

Free Digital Backgrounds created by Lunagirl

We've been featuring the Carte Postale digital backgrounds in most of the Design Team projects, along with a couple of Antique Adverts digital backgrounds, so today I'm spotlighting a different type of digital background I have available.  The freebies below are examples of digital backgrounds I have created from Victorian / Art Nouveau wallpaper patterns!  Two of my favorite colors, and I always love gardens and birds. You can find many more such patterned backgrounds on my collage sheets page at Lunagirl.com.

These digital backgrounds are my altered creations, so if you use them please remember to credit Lunagirl and link back to my site above, but I am happy to share in hopes of inspiring you!  These are nice large images that you can crop, enlarge, or reduce in size as needed.  They are lovely as backgrounds for cards, scrapbooking, and mixed media, and also very pretty for creating jewelry charms.  ~ Karen
