I'm pleased to announce Lunagirl's most recent licensing partnership, with talented designer Michele Marsden of thedigitalcornershop.com.

Here is a preview of one of her first creations using Lunagirl images, a truly gorgeous Victorian Vintage Rose Digital Paper Pad.

New Customer Showcase: BathCatSoaps on etsy

It's fun to showcase creative customers and their work, and today jff (just for fun) I want to mention a BRAND NEW etsy shop BathCatSoaps where Christina is selling her handmade soaps with Lunagirl labels! Her products look wonderful, and the labels look great. I absolutely love handmade scented soaps, so I'll probably be visiting there a bit myself ~ I have my eye on "Somali Spice oatmeal vanilla cinnamon sandalwood" (yum).  And she's in Atlanta, my former hometown (before I moved to the "boonies" of Tennessee).  Her shop has some very unique and intriguing-sounding scents, her ingredients are all natural, and her prices are very good!

Featured Artist Helen Cant: Jewelry Tutorial

Talented artist Helen Cant used the free postcard image I posted in July to create a lovely vintage style Christmas postcard as a backing/holder for her jewelry.

I really wish I had posted this sooner, but it is still Fourth of July weekend for a few more hours, right?  This is a card created by Michele Storms using the free July 4th image I posted a few days ago.  Beautiful work as always, Michele!  Great angel image.

Blog Challenge: The Great Gatsby

Here's the next Lunagirl Moonbeams Blog Challenge theme: The Great Gatsby!

Whether you've read the book and seen the movies, or not, the title brings to mind the fabulousness of the Roaring Twenties:  sassy and sultry flappers, dashingly handsome men, speakeasys and bathtub gin, big dance parties with jazz music, and of course plenty of drama, plenty of romance, and plenty of bling!

The Design Team is starting the theme off right with their gorgeous cards below.  This time they are using images selected from two Lunagirl image CDs:  Vintage Lovers and Vintage Women & Men.  Reflecting that, this time instead of giving away a free collage sheet I'll make the prize a $5 coupon code to use on anything at Lunagirl.com, image CDs or collage sheets or download packs.

This challenge (#5) will end at 11:55 pm on July 14 ~  The winner will be selected randomly (random number generator) to win the $5 discount coupon for Lunagirl.com.  If I get 20 entries for this challenge, I'll draw TWO winners!

Be creative but stick to the theme (obviously) :)
Any craft or medium is OK,

Of course I love if you use at least one Lunagirl product, but that's not a requirement!

First, here are two cards by Vicki Romaine.  They are very different in color and elements, but both perfectly evoke the Roaring Twenties!

Vicki wrote:
"I placed the image a little off center as I have a row of silver stars going down the right side to balance.  I thought the stars were the perfect embellishment to portray The Great Gatsby movie."

"When I think of the '20s, I think "classy".  Therefore, I tried to make a classy masculine card--very simple, but dramatic.  The images from the CD are even better than the ones on the collage sheets.

The background on this card is the one I bought from you a couple of weeks ago.  Hope you like this."

Here is another gorgeous romantic couple from the Gatsby era, this one featured and enhanced on a card created by Petra Berendsen, who writes:

"The Great Gatsby ... what a movie! I just love the fashion, the wonderful settings and such handsome man (lol) ... isn't the lady just so lucky? This image comes from Lunagirl Vintage Lovers CD. The colours are gorgeous and worked perfectly with some papers I had hidden away for the perfect occasion. I embellished the card with some bling, organza roses, a little frame and a feather."

Last but not least, here is a beautiful card by Michele Storms.  If you look closely, you'll see the sheet music in the background -- perfect for dancers in ecstasy of course, and for a time when music was so important to the young and fabulous.

Garden Fairies are Popping Up Everywhere!

Both by Vicki Romaine of the Cheerful Stamppad.

Here is a charming 1929 Girl fairy with bright wings and a gorgeous frame and embellishments.  

Vicki writes:

"I love using black and white as a background.  This time my fairy stands inside a Cheery Lynn die."

 






"Here is a tag using a  technique from Use Your Words workshop by Carolyn Dube.  The technique consisted  of putting letters in the background and then glazing with polymer medium gloss.  In addition I added a fairy from one of Lunagirl's collage sheets and then glazed her also."

I think this is one of my favorites, just because I love how she is sitting in a pretty little shoe!  I guess someone left her shoe in the garden.  The background is really pretty, with the rose briars.

I have always been fond of these luna moth wings I adapted from an antique print, and don't you love her little pink outfit and white shoes?  She is certainly loaded down with flowers for someone.  Beautiful work, Michele!

Flowery Button Fairies by Petra!

Petra Berendsen of the Lunagirl Moonbeams Design Team created these beautiful Garden Fairy button ornaments.

"Do you have fairies in your garden? If not you can always create some! For my two flowery garden fairies I combined two different Lunagirl collage sheets, it is so easy. All images work so well together. The ladies are from the Diva collage sheet and the beautiful butterfly wings from the Rainbow Butterfly Wings. To make the fairies I die-cut some musical note paper, paper flowers and lots of buttons." - Petra
  
I am really fond of these.  All the elements individually are so pretty (look at the little buttons, and the lacey music page backgrounds!)  The flowers and butterfly wings complement each other so perfectly.  Beautiful job, Petra!

Petra Berendsen: "For my project I created a tag using a beautiful image from collage sheet: Beauties 2. The image is layered on patterend paper, its edges distressed with Stickles. The tag is embellished with ribbon flowers, little blings and pearls and Mulberry flowers."

Michele Storms:  "i had fun layering designer papers and tissue papers on my stamped tag and then adding the (distressed) image from the lunagirl "beauties #2" collage sheet.  and even though the "birds" challenge was last time i snuck in a little lunagirl bird at the lower right hand corner.  a few more embellies and i was done."

Diva Wall Hanging by Vicki Romaine

 More "Diva" inspiration from the Design Team.  Here Vicki Romaine used one of my favorite images from my Diva collage sheet and combined it with other Lunagirl Images, acrylic paint, and a beautiful embroidered flower to create this pretty wall hanging.  I love the different textures and the sense of movement!





Here's Vicki's description of her piece and her process: 
"The wall hanging uses three vintage sheets.  They are the diva, shoes, and fan and mirror.  If you look closely you will notice that I have super-imposed the mirror into the girl's hand.  The background has gesso which was tinted with acrylic paint.  A number of years ago I cut a blouse up that had pretty embroidered flowers.  I finally dug one out and used Copic markers to color the white flower.  The entire piece has been Mod Podged."

Design Team & New Blog Challenge: DIVA

Hello all ~ The BIRDS challenge is open until midnight tonight, so get your entries in for the random drawing tomorrow!  In the meantime, let's dive in to the next Lunagirl Moonbeams Blog Challenge.

Our theme for Challenge #2 is DIVA.  I'll open up a post for Diva entries tomorrow, after I end the Birds challenge.  (From now on, I'll end challenges on a Sunday night and start a new one on a Monday, so we won't have this overlap.)  The Diva challenge will end at midnight on June 2 ~ winner to receive a free digital collage sheet of his or her choice.  Tune in tomorrow...

Birds: Inspiration from Michele Storm & free bird image

Another gorgeous submission from Michele Storms of the Lunagirl Moonbeams Design Team!   This reminds me of a goddess of Springtime, surrounded by her birds and flowers.  So pretty! Love the warm oranges throughout.

Design Team: More Birds from Vicki Romaine

Here is another beautiful bird-themed card from Vicki Romaine.  I love the colors in this one ~ the papers and elements she chose really enhance the colors in the pretty little bird picture.  I especially like the green and white paper.  This is one of the lovely antique bird cards I've found that has a painting and then some text including facts about the bird and some verse.

Vicki has been busy creating and also shared this beautiful bird bookmark!  I love bookmarks and look forward to creating some myself.  I also love the quote from William Blake:  "No bird soars too high if he soars with his own wings."  Great choice!  (verse from Our Daily Bread Designs)  The bird image Vicki used is included in the free bird images available on my blog!
