Vintage Bellydancers & Edwardian Divas with Far-Away Eyes: New Printable Tags to Download

I had the best time starting my new collection Bellydance & Diva tag/bookmark sheets, three of which are sampled above.  Looking through all the images for just the right ones to go together, carefully tinting the photos in soft blues and pinks and jewel tones, selecting antique wallpaper scrap patterns to make the frames and backs and then coloring them to complement the photos, adding some lovely cartes postales and effects for the tags...

The sample here are three of the several bellydancer/diva printables I created, all currently available at Lunagirl.com and also in my etsy shop.  I feel sure there will be more tag and bookmark sets after I return from vacation... and remember you can shop while I'm away!  Digital collage sheets and other downloads will continue to be delivered automatically, and I'll be checking email when I can in case anyone has questions or difficulties.  You can order CDs also, and I'll ship those as soon as shipping resumes at the end of June.

These vintage bellydancer photos are truly some of my favorite, partly because I love bellydance and also because the images are just so exotic and beautiful.  The four "diva" photos I choose for the sheet above have in common a certain daydreaming look, so I named the sheet "Far Away Eyes." And of course I ended up using some of my favorite colors:  turquoise aquamarine blue, deep magenta with a gothic pattern, and lovely antique rose pink.  Click to see more and you'll notice some purple :-)   Now I just need to do some in emerald green....

MICHELE STORMS: tag
The DT will be working with images from my Lunagirl digital collage sheets "Showgirls" and "Burlesque."  You'll find more showgirls and divas at Lunagirl.com.  I hope they inspire your own sassy creations!

And be sure to click here to learn more about my fabulous DT members and visit their blogs!

(Note: Petra Berendsen will be back!)

VICKI ROMAINE:
"I thought this designer paper would give the appearance of a theater curtain especially with the two accents of black glittery stickers at the top.  The Lunagirl image is a vintage version of the Rockettes   The blue cardstock at the bottom resembles a stage at first glance.  To add a little more glitz to the card I added a wire/mesh ribbon and bow.  The bow was very hard to tie as it wanted to shred into pieces, but after a couple of tries I think I conquered it."

Flowery Button Fairies by Petra!

Petra Berendsen of the Lunagirl Moonbeams Design Team created these beautiful Garden Fairy button ornaments.

"Do you have fairies in your garden? If not you can always create some! For my two flowery garden fairies I combined two different Lunagirl collage sheets, it is so easy. All images work so well together. The ladies are from the Diva collage sheet and the beautiful butterfly wings from the Rainbow Butterfly Wings. To make the fairies I die-cut some musical note paper, paper flowers and lots of buttons." - Petra

I am really fond of these.  All the elements individually are so pretty (look at the little buttons, and the lacey music page backgrounds!)  The flowers and butterfly wings complement each other so perfectly.  Beautiful job, Petra!

Vintage Diva: Lina Cavalieri

Here is a short bio of another Victorian Edwardian diva.  This is a beautiful postcard of actress and singer Lina Cavalieri. I've restored it, removed scratches, and enhanced the color.

"La Cavalieri" had quite a colorful life! She was orphaned at age 15, and ran away from a convent orphanage to tour Italy with a theater troupe. She sang at cafes and music halls in Vienna and Paris, and by age 20 was famous across Europe.

Lina Cavalieri studied with the top singers of the day, but was known as much for her beauty, fiery temperament, and love of emeralds as for her pleasant voice. She boasted over 800 marriage proposals, of which she accepted four! She was also famously generous. She campaigned on behalf of orphans, performed for the troops during WWI, and worked as a nurse during WWII. She died in an air raid in Florence in 1944 at age 70.

Diva in Purple from Vicki

There are a few days to left to enter my DIVA Blog Challenge!  It ends Sunday night.  Please go see the lovely entries so far here on the Blog Challenge page, and enter your own as well.
Vicki is having a "My Kind of Gal" challenge at her blog The Cheerful Stamppad, so if you have a Diva image you could enter both!
VICKI ROMAINE: "The lady in  purple is one of the beautiful images from Lunagirl.  In the background is a piece of designer paper of flowers and trees.  I put the stronger purple mat behind the image to make her pop and to keep her from getting lost on the background.  Some black swirls around the flower and a couple of stones give the card a shot of bling."

DIVAS

You still have a week to enter the DIVA Blog Challenge and win a free digital collage sheet!
Here is more gorgeous inspiration from the Lunagirl Moonbeams Design Team, two pretty tags.  These tags include images from Lunagirl digital collage sheet Beauties 2.:

Petra Berendsen: "For my project I created a tag using a beautiful image from collage sheet: Beauties 2. The image is layered on patterend paper, its edges distressed with Stickles. The tag is embellished with ribbon flowers, little blings and pearls and Mulberry flowers."

Michele Storms:  "i had fun layering designer papers and tissue papers on my stamped tag and then adding the (distressed) image from the lunagirl "beauties #2" collage sheet.  and even though the "birds" challenge was last time i snuck in a little lunagirl bird at the lower right hand corner.  a few more embellies and i was done."

Diva Wall Hanging by Vicki Romaine

Vicki Romaine
More "Diva" inspiration from the Design Team.  Here Vicki Romaine used one of my favorite images from my Diva collage sheet and combined it with other Lunagirl Images, acrylic paint, and a beautiful embroidered flower to create this pretty wall hanging.  I love the different textures and the sense of movement!

Here's Vicki's description of her piece and her process:
"The wall hanging uses three vintage sheets.  They are the diva, shoes, and fan and mirror.  If you look closely you will notice that I have super-imposed the mirror into the girl's hand.  The background has gesso which was tinted with acrylic paint.  A number of years ago I cut a blouse up that had pretty embroidered flowers.  I finally dug one out and used Copic markers to color the white flower.  The entire piece has been Mod Podged."
I hope you all will enter your Diva-inspired works in the latest Lunagirl Moonbeams Blog Challenge!

Hello all ~ The BIRDS challenge is open until midnight tonight, so get your entries in for the random drawing tomorrow!  In the meantime, let's dive in to the next Lunagirl Moonbeams Blog Challenge.

Our theme for Challenge #2 is DIVA.  I'll open up a post for Diva entries tomorrow, after I end the Birds challenge.  (From now on, I'll end challenges on a Sunday night and start a new one on a Monday, so we won't have this overlap.)  The Diva challenge will end at midnight on June 2 ~ winner to receive a free digital collage sheet of his or her choice.  Tune in tomorrow...

And to provide some inspiration to get your creative juices flowing, here are two lovely DIVA-themed pieces by the ever-fabulous Lunagirl Moonbeams Design Team!
Vicki Romaine

Vicki Romaine created this gorgeous card, "Special Moments," featuring an image from Lunagirl Beauties 2 collage sheet.  I adore what she has done with the colors, tying in her papers and embellishments with the pinks and blues of the tinted image.  Just lovely!
More from Vicki at her blog: http://cheerfulstamppad.blogspot.com

Michele Storms
From Michele Storms, another card, just as gorgeous but with colors of orange and brown and dark lines.  I love how the lady seems to be summoning up the curved floral lines to her left ~ true diva attitude!  (She is from the Lunagirl Diva collage sheet.)  And how cute is that little butterfly/moth, and the little heart in the corner?  Visit Michele's blog: http://artfromthewell.blogspot.com

For more inspiration, check out the Diva Actress Showgirls category of my collage sheets.  There are some "little divas" in the Children category... and of course thousands of ladies on CD.  Have fun!  Come back tomorrow to start uploading your DIVA entries, and don't forget BIRDS is open until tonight!
