Lunagirl Challenge Theme: Music and Dance

Time for a new challenge theme, and this time the theme is MUSIC AND DANCE.

This is a favorite of mine, and just in time for this theme I have five new digital collage sheets  -- three new Dance sheets and two new designs that feature musical images and sheet music backgrounds.

I've added these to my Music and Dance category at Lunagirl, which already includes musical vintage ephemera and many kinds of dancers, from ballerinas and romantic dancing couples to Charleston-ing flappers and plenty of vintage bellydancers! You're sure to find something to love.

Here are the guidelines for the challenge:

  • Any craft or medium is OK.
  • Limit of 3 entries from one person in each challenge, please.
  • Vintage style is encouraged.
  • Use a Lunagirl image or element and your entry will count twice in the drawing!
  • Remember to link to this blog and to Lunagirl.com on your site if you have one.
  • Prize:  Winner will be selected randomly to receive a $10 credit at Lunagirl.com!
  • Challenge ends at noon CST on November 9.

  • I love it when you use Lunagirl images, and I hope you'll go take a look at my collections... but that's not a requirement!  But do remember that if you use a Lunagirl image, you will be entered TWICE in the drawing! I welcome everyone and every style but also want to give a little something extra to my wonderful customers! Most important is have fun, get creative, enjoy vintage.

    LUNAGIRL MOONBEAMS DESIGN TEAM
Here is some great inspiration to get you started, created by the Lunagirl Moonbeams Design Team! These are a wonderful start to the challenge... The DT worked with my new music and dance themed digital collage sheets:  Music 2 & Music 3, Dance 2 Be a Ballerina, Dance 3 Bring On the Dancing Girls, and Dance 4 Shall We Dance? !

    A postcard by MANDY CHILVERS

ATC "Shall We Dance?" by MICHELE STORMS
    A tag by VICKI ROMAINE:
Here is a tag which has a H2O background in shiny pink.  On the tag I layered a sheet of music image which I tore and a ballerina.  Both of these images can be find on the Lunagirl.com website.  Added embellishments include a couple of hearts and some blue ribbon.  The sentiment is "Soulful Delight" which are Tim Holtz stickers.

Winning Moon Goddess: Paper Whims (Wendylynn)

Well, we didn't get as many moon goddesses as I expected... but that's OK, I know you're out there. This challenge was timing with the waning moon (there's a tiny new moon tonight) so maybe the lunar energy just wasn't strong enough.

The moon goddesses who showed up are fabulous, aren't they? Thank you to everyone who entered your charming goddesses. They were fun and elegant.

And now for the winner of my random drawing... who will receive $10 credit at Lunagirl.com for some image shopping...

Entry #5 by Paper Whims! Wendylynn is a regular in our Moonbeams challenges, and her two matching moon goddesses in this challenge were wonderful!  Congrats, Wendy -- email me at info@lunagirl.com to claim your credit.

And everyone please visit again tomorrow for the start of the new challenge.  My next theme will be MUSIC AND DANCE. I have several new collage sheets on that theme to show off, and the Moonbeams Design Team will have some lovely inspiring pieces to show as always!

Altered Card Moon Goddesses by Vicki!

Vicki has been busy creating more cards for her altered playing cards deck (remember her fabulous chickens from last time?). This pair features two moon goddesses for the Moon Goddess challenge that's going on this week.
VICKI ROMAINE: This is two Altered Playing Cards using Lunagirl images.  The background was made with watercolors. Silver  Stickles was used for "stars".
Those pretty crescent moons look alot like the waning crescent that will be in the night sky tonight. I like the silver stars that Vicki added, and that purple and blue sky background.

Anyone else doing the altered playing card challenge? Make one a moon goddess and link it up with us!

    Creative Challenge: MOON GODDESS

Luna or Loonie -- what kind of moon goddess are you today?

I was preparing the post and badge for this challenge, and couldn't decide which of these ladies to go with. So I decided to use both, and inspire you with the question:
Which kind of Moon Goddess are you today?
Oh-so-elegant ethereal Luna or a wild Loony Bird?
Yes, you can be both -- enter twice (or thrice!)

And instead of my usual aqua/turquoise I chose pink text for Breast Cancer awareness month.

These moon goddesses are from my Lunagirl collage sheets Ethereal and Celestial II, both of which you can find in my online shop along with more moon goddesses and fantasy women.  Be sure to scroll down for more inspiration from the Moonbeams Design Team!

    Here are the CHALLENGE GUIDELINES:

  • Limit of 3 entries from one person in each challenge, please.
  • Vintage style is encouraged.
  • Use a Lunagirl image or element and your entry will count twice in the drawing!

    MANDY CHILVERS
    VICKI ROMAINE:
"Here is a tag I made using a Gelli plate to make my background.  On it I placed the Lunagirl Moon Goddess image.  I added a very small star to the tip of the moon.  Even though it is hard to see in the scan there are numerous "stars", made with drops of silver Stickles, surrounding the image.  A silver bow made from an elastic cord completes the tag."

Put A Bird On It Challenge Winner: Corinne Marie

Hello all! It's the third-in-a-row rainy day here in my corner of Tennessee. And the weatherfolks say there are at least three more days like this to come! But the damp grey autumn day is brightened by the beautiful array of entries in my Put A Bird On It challenge.

There were plenty of beautiful, colorful entries, quite a few owls for October... and I like that there were different kinds of creations, some of them three-dimensional, altered objects, from the DT and also from the players. That's always fun.

https://www.flickr.com/photos/mscorinnemarie55/15500175985/So, I've completed the random drawing, and this challenge's lucky winner is #24, submitted by Corinne Marie, shown at left (click to see the larger version in her Flickr photostream, it's gorgeous!)

Congratulations to Corinne! She has won a $10 shopping credit to enjoy at Lunagirl.com for some new digitals to play with!

Don't miss my next challenge, which starts tomorrow.
My new theme will be MOON GODDESS.

One More Bird to Remind You to Join the Challenge!

One more beautiful piece from the Lunagirl Moonbeams Design Team to remind you to "Put A Bird On It" and join the challenge!

Michele Storms created this second lovely goddess and owl card to inspire you. Very gothic and Celtic ... perfect for October. (The goddess is from the Lunagirl "goddess" collage sheet and the owl is from the "owls" collage sheet.)

The challenge continues until Sunday noon (CST) so you have plenty of time.

It's been rainy and grey where I am today ... perfect weather for creating! What is it like where you are? Cold and autumnal? A good day to create some art! Sunny and bright? Well, sunshine is inspiring too... and the birds like it!

The challenge winner will be chosen randomly on Sunday and will win some free shopping credit at Lunagirl.com, to find some new digital goodies.

Put A Bird On It: Second Week

Vicki Romaine is working on the altered card deck project also, and here are a pair of amazing rooster designs that are perfect for my Put A Bird On It challenge!  I am pretty fond of chickens (and yellow cats!) and I love the textures Vicki has used on her cards.

Michele Storm's love goddess with a bird, on this beautiful tag she created, reminds you to enter the Put A Bird On It challenge this week.

The challenge continues until Sunday noon CST, and you can put a bird on your creation -- any medium -- and link it up for a chance to win $10 shopping credit at Lunagirl.com.

Here is a chance to get involved in something wonderful! Visit RosesOnMyTable to join a journal journey for the joy of creating and also a chance to help a great cause that provides Service Dogs to veterans who need them:
"Beginning on November 1, 2014 Roses On My Table will be hosting a month to month journal journey experience that is even more special than all our past journaling years together. In the spirit of the journey we want to dedicate 12 segments of sharing our journey together toward supporting Alphak9 in the amazing work they do.....
Each month from Nov. 1, 2014 to Dec. 1, 2015, we will present a new journal prompt and a series of fun exercises to go with it. In our first month, I will share a brand new set of video instruction on how I make my own handmade journals. Then, with each new month, I will share a new video(s) to inspire you! I might share how I create my journal pages for that month, or a new technique, or a new way to make an art journal. All for your one-time donation of $35.

    Free Vintage Hummingbird Image

The entries for my Put A Bird On It challenge are coming in and they are looking great!

To inspire you and maybe give you a little nudge to enter, I thought I would share some free bird images in vintage style.

For today, here is a little hummingbird. I originally found him on a Victorian Christmas card of all things. Now he lives on my Lunagirl Victorian Birds CD!

I love all kinds of birds, but hummingbirds are among my favorites -- who could resist them. We get them by the dozens during the summer.

Download this little guy and create something wonderful -- Put a BIRD on it!
