So, challenge ended, random drawing done, and the lucky winner of $15 Lunagirl store credit this month is Marie, of Creative By Design, entry #18. Congrats to Marie!

I hope everyone will come back and enter my December challenge which begins tomorrow and continues until the End of the Year (isn't that a shocking thought?). Free Turkeys! well, pictures of turkeys

As promised, here is another freebie for November/Harvest/Thanksgiving. I found this great-looking big-ole turkey on a vintage style label from my Lunagirl Can & Crate Labels collection, which is now available by download as well as on CD! I love the antique printing on these old labels, but I'm including a version with most of the writing removed as well. Enjoy ~ Create something and enter my November challenge!

Design Team Inspiration: Patti's Retro Kitchen

This time of year is about thanksgiving and gratitude, and isn't it also about FOOD? Cooking (and eating) goes along with the Harvest theme this time of year ~ gathering in, spending time with family, expressing gratitude for one's blessings in life, and of course cooking and sharing some of that wonderful harvest! The cornucopia full of harvest vegetables is an old traditional symbol of Thanksgiving ~ now I think the "cornucopia" is a table covered in casseroles and pies!

Enjoy this playful collage created by Patti Robinson... she was inspired by retro images, layering colors and images to evoke the cooks and hostesses of the 1950s. And I love those 1-2-3 potatoes! Read Patti's blog post about her process... I hope you're getting inspired to show us your Harvest/Gratitude/Thanksgiving creation in my challenge this month...

Pocket Letter by Michele Storms

I had to share this beautiful "pocket letter" created by DT member Michele Storms for Breast Cancer Awareness Month (October).  She used vintage portraits from my Lunagirl African-American Images collection to represent the struggles faced by these women long ago, with words from poet and survivor Maya Angelou. I love the dignity in this beautiful old photos, and Michele's work is always amazing.
Be sure to visit Michele's blog Art From the Well to read her post.. and see more of her work!

November Challenge Theme: Thanksgiving/Harvest ... and Gratitude

Alright, here we go, a day late but excited to see what you create. November's theme for my blog challenge is THANKSGIVING & HARVEST. Yes, I know it is obvious, but it is a beautiful theme for a beautiful time of year. The smell of Autumn leaves and chimney smoke in the cold crisp air, trees turning the colors of Fruit Loops, thoughts turning to reflection and celebration and (most of all for this challenge) GRATITUDE.

Here is a little Autumn inspiration from Lunagirl.com, including the digital collage sheets used by the Moonbeams Design Team... Don't miss their inspiration below!

CHALLENGE GUIDELINES:

  • Challenge ends at 3:00 pm CST on November 30.
  • Any craft or medium is welcome.
  • Vintage style is encouraged but not required.
  • Use a Lunagirl image and your entry will count twice in the drawing!
  • Link to this blog and to Lunagirl.com on your site if you have one.
  • Prize:  Winner will be selected randomly to receive a $15 credit at Lunagirl.com!

  • I love it when you use Lunagirl images, and I hope you'll go take a look at my collections... but that's not a requirement!  But do remember that if you use a Lunagirl image, you will be entered TWICE in the drawing! I welcome everyone and every style but also want to give a little something extra to my wonderful customers! Most important is have fun, get creative, and enjoy vintage style.

And one last thing... I cannot believe it's November. It was August like, yesterday! Time is going by faster and faster, and it is really freaking me out.

I'll be sharing more beautiful work from the DT throughout the month... so keep visiting to see!

Winner of Gothic 'Goth-tober' Challenge: Wendy Lynn

First of all, apologies for being so late with the winner and new challenge this month! Because yesterday was Halloween, I was busy all day making cookies and candy for my son's first Halloween party (and running out for more ice, and helping to hang up bats and skeletons and cobwebs...) Anyway, the whole day got away from me, and then I was too tired to do anything except watch another spooky old movie!

So before I start the next challenge, I must announce the winner of the random drawing for Goth-tober. And.... she has done it again: Wendy Lynn of Paper Whims! Wendy has three entries in this challenge, all using Lunagirl images, and the one featured here won the random number drawing. Wendy's creations are always amazing, and I always love seeing how she uses Lunagirl images.

Congratulations to Wendy and to everyone who played. I'll start the next challenge shortly. The theme will be Thanksgiving/Harvest, and I know we should have many wonderful entries!
