New Collage Sheet: Corsets

I've collected images of Victorian corsets from antique catalogs, vintage ads, and other ephemera and clipart, and created this new digital collage sheet. I'm sure glad that these "undergarments" aren't expected anymore... I'm not sure I would have been willing to wear one! Of course, I won't even wear high heels. Many artists and crafters appreciate these beautiful antique risque images and our customers have requested a collection to use in their card making, altered art work, and other projects.

You'll find a lovely collection of vintage women, most from the Edwardian era or the 1920s Flapper era, some from the earlier Victorian styles.  The poses range from serene to sassy!  Ladies with veils, big hats, corsets, petticoats, jewelry, costumes. Some post cards have two versions, in different color tints.


Why are they called French postcards?  Many early postcards originated in France, including photographs of actresses, children, romantic ladies, and other themes, in addition to the "naughty" ladies (who were very popular with WWI soldiers!).  But the term "French postcard" eventually became associated with risqué images (most early 20th century risqué postcards originated in Paris).  These images are rather tame by today's standards but were considered quite naughty and even scandalous in their day!

We're deep into summer now, and I want to feature some items/artists for a "Summer Splurge." And wow, what a wonderful and talented artist we're featuring today.

Bonzie, an independent fashion label in Ireland, creates absolutely gorgeous corsets, neck adornments, handbags and more ~ see the pictures below. They are wonderfully feminine, romantic, gothic, elegant, playful.... I especially like her new wearable art bags (some feature Lunagirl images, plus fabric flowers, lace, other vintage and vintage-inspired elements and embellishments). I have a weakness for handbags!

Truly an indulgence for yourself or a lucky friend ~ and some pieces would be amazing for your wedding ~ but note that Bonzie's custom neck adornments are very reasonably priced for such lovely custom pieces!
