Chipmunks

A chipmunk and I almost gave each other heart attacks today!

I was walking out to the mailbox, my thoughts lost in the quiet of a spring morning, and just as I passed the corner of the house I heard a huge racket to my left, which made me jump. Apparently I had surprised one of these little guys and he (she?) scrambled across the metal covering of the HVAC fan causing a rather loud noise for such a small creature.

We are lucky to have these little Eastern Chipmunks all around the yard. They are adorable! They tend to "lay low" unlike their more brazen cousins the grey squirrels. We must have dozens of the grey squirrels, and they are fun to watch leaping and playing with each others in the trees. They seem to enjoy taunting my (indoor) cats, who watch with futile fascination from the windows.

In Colorado last summer we visited a "ghost town" where this happens:

Geisha "Gate" Card by Vicki

Just wanted to share some more work from the Design Team. I don't know how the find the time to create so many beautiful projects...

Vicki Romaine created this "Gate" card featuring some pretty geisha women and a great sentiment.
I'm including three photos to show how the card folds down and opens up.

Gorgeous, isn't it? I love gate effect and those backgrounds she used, and I'm proud to say the geisha images are from Lunagirl.com!

    Inspiration!

Join the challenge! The theme is Fruit and Flowers ~ I challenge you to create something featuring or inspired by fruit, flowers, blossoms, gardens... and share it with us here!

My choice of this theme was inspired by the beautiful old Victorian botanical prints that I love, and as usual the Design Team has come up with some wonderfully inspiring work.
Above is digital art by CorinneMarie, featuring vintage grapes and related ephemera.
Below is another piece by CorinneMarie, this one a darling altered matchbox! She has incorporated the botanical prints in shade of pink and red with some charming ladies in red, a vintage pink background, and accents in red as well.
I know this will get your creative juices flowing and inspire you to join in!
The Fruit & Flowers challenge continues until next Thursday, March 19,
so you have plenty of time to link up. Get the details and see more inspiration!

The 3D effect really doesn't show up on the scanning."

I can see the 3D effect ~ it is stunning.

Winner of SEWING theme challenge: Karla B

Alright, I've done the random drawing for the Vintage Sewing theme challenge (with double entries for everyone who used a Lunagirl image) and the lucky winner of the drawing is this beautiful entry #4 by Karla B!

Thanks to everyone who played in this fun challenge, one of my favorites.  BTW, as the winner of the drawing Karla has won $15 credit to spend at Lunagirl.com!

Next time the lucky winner could be you! I'll start a new challenge theme bright and early tomorrow... the new theme will be
FRUIT & FLOWERS ~ a lovely garden theme inspired by Victorian botanical prints but of course not limited to them!
With Spring coming, get inspired by dreams of blossoming flowers and colorful fruit... see you soon!

    Vintage Sewing

I've just extended the sewing challenge to 2:30 pm CST, and then I'm off to do the random drawing.  In the meantime I thought I would share some of my "vintage sewing" projects!
My hobby (translation: obsession) is vintage-style aprons, which I'm not only collecting but now also creating.

Here are just a couple I thought I would share. They aren't cards or altered art, but they are handmade on a vintage sewing machine, and I reproduce vintage styles!
I also share them on etsy :-)

I'll have to give another warning that if I disappear for a couple of days, my electricity may be out. Because, yes, we have another ice storm. This one was not as bad, and I think it will melt by the weekend, but I am a bit angry/sad that the daffodils that were about to bloom by my front porch are now encased in ice. *Sigh* I hope they recover.

I'll post again shortly with the challenge winner, and bright and early tomorrow we'll begin the next challenge theme:
    FRUIT & FLOWERS

The Design Team is already sending me some gorgeous work using some the Victorian botanical prints I have, so you won't want to miss them.

P.S. You have one more day to enter my current challenge with the Vintage Sewing theme!
And Friday I'll start a new theme, which I think I'm calling Vintage Flowers & Fruit ... sort of a garden theme, inspired by Victorian botanical prints but not limited to those... you'll see...

Shabby Pink and Aqua from Michele ~ with Buttons too!

    MICHELE STORMS
I love the colors in this pretty vintage sewing themed card by Michele Storms ~ that dusky rose pink is so vintage, and I especially like the pink roses, stripes and tape measure with the aqua background. Such a pretty shabby-romantic color combination. Michele used some images from my Lunagirl Sew Shabby Pink collage sheet, combined with other beautiful vintage style imagery and some charming little buttons! I wish buttons were still 10 cents...

Don't miss your chance to enter the challenge with our Sewing theme. Visit the challenge post for details and inspiration, and check out my sewing themed collage sheets too, just for fun and to spark your creativity.

Vicki Gets Her Sewing Machine Out

    VICKI ROMAINE
So here's another piece for the Vintage Sewing theme of our challenge... and Vicki got her sewing machine out!  :-) Yay, Vicki ~ it turned out so sweet!

    Here's what she wrote:
"I got the sewing machine out for this one.  First I had to learn how to thread the machine as it has been a long time since it was in use.  I decided to sew a piece of fabric to my card adding a little dimension to the Lunagirl sewing images."

Remember you don't have to actually SEW to enter the challenge! Any images related to sewing will work, or any kind of stitchery or embellishments or pictures of stitchery, buttons, sewing machines, etc. are perfect. But isn't it fun to see some actual fabric on a card.
